How these calculators work, and why the engine matters

Most astrology websites answer your questions with lookup tables: pre-typed lists of dates mapped to signs, copied from site to site for decades. That approach breaks exactly where precision matters most: cusp birthdays, Moon sign boundary days, ayanamsa differences, and the Lunar New Year window. Every astronomical tool on this page instead computes real planetary positions with the Moshier ephemeris, the same class of calculation professional chart software uses, so a birthday on the Aries–Taurus boundary gets an actual answer, not a guess.

The second design decision is privacy. Birth details are sensitive data, and there is no technical reason a calculator needs to phone them home. Every tool here runs completely in your browser: the page loads, the mathematics happens on your device, and nothing is transmitted or stored. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the calculators keep working.

A suggested path through the tools

Start with the birth chart calculator to learn your big three, then read how to interpret them. Flip the Vedic toggle to find your Moon nakshatra and read its profile in the nakshatra library. Add your life path number and destiny number for the numerological layer, check any relationship with the compatibility calculator or, for marriage, the full kundli matching analysis, and make the moon phase calculator and daily panchang your ongoing companions. Each tool links to the guides that explain its results, so the learning compounds as you go.

Tools FAQs

Are these astrology calculators really free?
Yes, completely. Every tool on this page runs without signup, payment, or limits. There are no locked results, no email walls, and no paid tiers hiding the full reading.
How accurate are the calculators?
The astronomical tools (birth chart, kundli matching, moon phase) use the Moshier ephemeris, accurate to well under a degree for every planet, with the Lahiri ayanamsa for sidereal calculations. That is the same computational standard traditional panchang publishers rely on.
Is my birth data stored anywhere?
No. Every calculator runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your birth date, time, and place are never transmitted to a server, stored, or logged, which you can verify in your browser’s network tab.
Which tool should a complete beginner start with?
The birth chart calculator. It gives you your Sun, Moon, and rising signs in one step, which unlocks everything else: horoscopes read correctly, compatibility read deeply, and your nakshatra for the Vedic tools.
What is the difference between the Western and Vedic settings?
Western (tropical) astrology anchors the zodiac to the seasons; Vedic (sidereal) anchors it to the fixed stars, currently offset by about 24 degrees. The birth chart calculator computes both with one toggle, so you can compare your placements in each system.
How does the kundli matching calculator work?
It computes both partners’ Moon nakshatras and rasis from real planetary positions, then scores the eight classical kootas: Varna, Vashya, Tara, Yoni, Graha Maitri, Gana, Bhakoot, and Nadi, totalling 36 points, with dosha warnings where they apply.
What guna milan score is needed for marriage?
Classical texts set 18 out of 36 as the minimum acceptable score. 18 to 24 is average, 25 to 32 very good, and above 32 excellent. Doshas in Nadi or Bhakoot call for a fuller chart review regardless of the total.
Do I need my exact birth time?
For your rising sign, houses, and boundary cases in kundli matching, yes. For your Sun sign, life path number, Chinese zodiac, and usually your Moon sign, the date alone is enough. Each tool tells you what it needs.
What is a life path number?
Your life path number reduces your full birth date to a single digit or a master number (11, 22, 33). It is numerology’s core signature, describing your fundamental nature and the lessons your life keeps returning to.
Can I check compatibility without knowing birth times?
Yes. The love compatibility tool needs only two zodiac signs, and kundli matching works with birth dates alone in most cases, since the Moon changes nakshatra roughly once per day. Birth times sharpen boundary cases.
What is the moon phase calculator useful for?
Checking tonight’s phase for rituals, finding the moon phase on your birthday (read as a lifelong temperament note), and planning around full and new moons. It works for any date, centuries past or future.
Why does my Chinese zodiac differ from year tables?
The Chinese zodiac year begins at Lunar New Year, between late January and mid February, not on January 1. Anyone born in that window belongs to the previous animal, which the calculator handles automatically.
What are angel numbers and does the finder cover all of them?
Angel numbers are repeating sequences like 111, 444, or 1212 read as messages in numerology. The finder covers every classic sequence and reduces any other number to its root digit for a meaning, so no input comes back empty.
Do the tools work on mobile?
Yes. Every calculator is built mobile-first and works in any modern browser on phones, tablets, and desktops, with no app to install.
Will more tools be added?
Yes. The panchang already updates daily, and tools like Mangal Dosha checking, muhurta finding, and transit trackers are on the roadmap. New calculators are announced on the blog.
